FastTrack CityHack Hong Kong was successfully held on December 3 to 5. Over just two days, 11 teams of CityHackers leveraged digital technology, technical skills and innovative thinking to develop innovative solutions to enhance Hong Kong’s future as a city. The hackathon was generously supported by 34 mentors, 7 judges, 5 special advisors, 4 distinguished speakers, 2 facilitators, 2 exclusive partners and 17 supporting organizations who share the same vision of creating digital solutions to accelerate and amplify urban resiliency, sustainability and agility. A big thank you to everyone who played a part in making it such a successful weekend.

Here are the three winning teams and their solutions:

Champion and winner of the HK$40,000 prize
SaveEat proposed an app and AI-enabled vending machine solution to reduce food waste through the sale of unused food items. The judges commented that as food waste is a big problem in Hong Kong that affects all communities, this is a good way to start an initiative around sustainability.

Immersive HK

Immersive HK proposed an interactive app and platform that adds a digital experience to physical tourism locations and landmarks with AR technology and gamification.

Green Glaze

In addition to prize money, all three teams received the opportunity to pitch their ideas to an AECOM senior leadership group in the weeks following, and one will be selected to present their solution to AECOM’s Commercialization team to explore the potential of taking it to market.

Stay tuned to learn about the next steps of their journey.
